Help powerdraw 5.0

5. Converting powerdraw 4.x Files

Older powerdraw 4.x and older files, including both the powerdraw drawing files - .pdd and the powerdraw templates - pdt. may be opened and the resaved using the Visio Save / Save As command.

1. Before you can open the Legacy files, you need to change the Visio File Format Setting to allow Visio to open the previous file versions. Go to File> Options> Trust Centre> Trust Centre Settings. Choose File Block Settings and uncheck both the Open and Save, Visio 2003-2010 Binary Drawings, Templates and Stencils.

2. Now you can open previous powerdraw files that have the .pdd or .pdt file extensions using the Import powerDRAW 4.x command in the Add-ins tab.

3. These older version files and templates will open without stencils. To add the default powerdraw stencils to this file, go to More Shapes > Open Stencil > powerDRAW Drawings > Defaults folder and select them all and click Open.

4. In the File Tab, use the Save As command to save your file. as a .vsdx drawing file to My Documents / powerDRAW Drawings folder. Or save as a .vstx template file to My Documents / powerDRAW Drawings / My Templates folder.

5. After they have been saved, open the files using the typical File Open command as shown in Item #2 in the Table of Contents.
